The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a fairly important Medical role on the station. They're tasked with reaching injured crew members far from medbay, and applying medical aid to them, sometimes putting themselves into danger. Every second can count and mean life-or-death for their patient.
Getting Set Up
A significant part of the EMT's job is being able to quickly tend to someone no matter the cause. EMT's should be able to quickly stabilize someone suffering from any of the four basic types of damage. A good EMT is able to reach a patient in a dangerous area, stabilize them, and bring them to Medbay for further treatment. EMTs are equipped with a custom medical kit to assist them in doing this, but its supplies are limited.
Responding to an Emergency
EMTs will primarily be providing assistance to injured personnel by being called for over the radio. If you'd like to be more proactive you can use a crew monitor to check suit sensors and use a crew pinpointer to locate an injured or deceased crew member. Be aware that you have access to E.V.A. to equip yourself with a space suit should you need to rescue someone out in space or a depressurized area of the station.
What to Do When Not on Call?
As an EMT, while not on call you can either patrol the station looking for injured personnel or can go to Medbay to both restock and assist Medical Doctors. Providing an extra hand in Medbay can be especially helpful when it inevitably gets swamped with injured and deceased crew members.
