The Rapid Pipe Dispenser (RPD) is an integral tool for both the Atmospheric Technician and the Station Engineer. Many of them are found strewn about the station, and even more can be printed at a protolathe or ordered from Cargo if there's none to be found. It's important that if you need one of these to do your job, that you get one as soon as possible. Unlike many other things on the station, there are few alternatives to an RPD in times of crisis, and certainly none that are as fast.

Someone working in Ordnance will also likely want an RPD, as modifications to their setups allow for the creation of even more volatile gas mixes, and larger explosives for more scientific data. RPDs are also able to be equipped with a few upgrades from the Research and Development department that give them extended functionality. There are usually a few Rapid Pipe Dispensers in the Ordnance department for them to use.

Another important consideration is that RPDs are completely free to use, they can print an infinite number of pipes and atmospheric devices, and cannot break under regular circumstances. RPDs are also equipped with two additional modes, letting them place disposal and transit tubes. They only require one hand to operate, and can be configured while in the offhand or stowed on the operator's belt slot.

Hold the RPD in your hand, and interact with it either by clicking on it or pressing the interact key to open the interface. By default you will be presented with the atmospherics menu unless you or someone else has already messed with it. The interface is fairly straightforward, select an item and interact with the world around you to place it. Certain items can be configured before being placed.

Atmospherics[править | править код]

By selecting the Atmospherics category, the RPD is placed into this mode, and gives you access to some special tools for working with atmos pipes and machines.

Smart Pipes[править | править код]

On the right side of the RPD interface, you can configure the directions in which you want pipes to link up after they are placed. Arrows that are green indicate directions that the pipe can connect in. Pipes will only connect with other pipes in directions marked green when placed.

Color Selection[править | править код]

Atmospherics pipes and machinery can be configured to only connect with other devices that have the same corresponding color. A volume pump that is colored green will only link up with other devices and pipes that are also green.

Layer Selection[править | править код]

There are five available layers to place pipes on. This means that any tile can have five separate pipes or devices on it. Pipes and machines will only connect to other pipes and machines on the same layer. The only way to move gas between layers is by using a manifold. Right clicking a pipe or pump with the RPD will copy the current layer and color.
