== Introduction ==
}}
<br>

So you're a Sentinel. What exactly is there to do? What are your goals? Don't fret, your job is rather simple, and once you have the basics down, you'll find that your tools are well equipped for more than just guarding hosts. Your '''Neurotoxic Spit''' may be weak by itself, but when paired with any of the other melee castes, you can help down marines, and then have your partner completely put them out of commission. Because of this, the Sentinel can help support combat inside and out of the hive, as long as you never walk alone.
=Statistics and Evolution Paths=

The Sentinel's job is simple. You are supposed to guard the infected hosts from escaping. They have guns, knives, fire, grenades, and several other nasty things that will ensure their escape if they aren't quickly wrangled and re-nested. Best case scenario, they kill themselves and you just lost a precious larva. Worst case scenario, they escape, free any other hosts, and gun down the queen while you're turned away. Thankfully, your '''Neurotoxic Spit''' is usually enough to down them long enough to re-nest them.
As a Sentinel, you can evolve into a [[TGMC:Spitter|Spitter]].
* Slash is the melee damage when the xenomorph is in harm intent and slashing marine. In the code, it's melee_damage.
* Melee, bullet, laser, energy, bomb, bio, rad, fire, and acid are soft armor values, not hard armor, which means that they reduce damage by a percentage rather than a flat value.
* Speed is calculated inversely, meaning the lower speed value you have, the faster you are. Xenomorphs are always running, meaning they have a -1.0 boost added to their base speed. (Chart displays running speed)
* Spit Delay is the amount of time inbetween spits, with a spit delay of 1.5 being 1 spit every 1.5 seconds
* '''All acid spits are given a 145% boost to damage at base, and 160% boost to damage with the primordial upgrade, the value given is with the boost applied..'''

One last ability you possess is your '''Corrosive Acid'''. Though you cant spit it at your foes, you can use it to melt anything of use to the marines. Your acid is generally weak and will take an excruciatingly long time to melt just about anything, but if you see a gun or a flare lying around, you might be prudent to melt it anyways.

== Doing Your Job ==
Long time ago, the Sentinel's job ensured that captured marines remained in the hive and give birth to larvas. Sentinel's neurotoxin chemically restrainted marines, inhibiting their somatic motor abilties to even move a finger (though marines do flick off sentinel). Maybe the Sentinel was a reincarnated corpsman that had to deal with an uncooperative patient.

As a Sentinel, your '''Neurotoxic Spit''' allows you to keep your targets down, though not for very long. If yourself being pursued, you can always use your spit to slow down your pursuers and hopefully lead them away from the nest. You generally shouldn't be outside of the hive as long as there's hosts that need guarding, as you are best suited for the job. When marines push into the hive, try to partner up with a more offensive class to knock down marines. When knocked down, a marine will drop their weapon, giving a brief moment of opportunity for whatever combat caste you've assisted to go in for the kill. Your spit can also be used as a disengagement tool and can give you the chance you need to flee and recover. Remember, the longer you live as a Xeno, the stronger you become, so fleeing is not just tactical, it's smart.
When the xenomorphs changed their method of reproduction from capturing to siloing, the Sentinel immediately changes their role in the hive, using their chem trails to hinder marines' push. From the aspiration of a forgotten experiment, the Afflictor, and its descendant, the Defiler, the Sentinel forces marine to remember and use their CBRN training so as to not have to breathe in the neurotoxin it produces.

Your small size allows you to crawl through vents. Alt Click a vent to begin entering it. If you get a message that the vents are disconnected, a-help, as it's a known issue and the sooner it's fixed the sooner the rest of the hive can benefit. If you're lucky enough to spawn early, you may use them to grab and devour hosts, or even aid in the capture of the spare survivor. Regardless, you should always be keeping yourself busy with melting tools, barricades, medical tools, supplies, and anything else you think could be used by the enemy. Lamps should be melted to deny marines light, and if you see any APCS, you should slash them until you get a message that sparks fly out. Be careful not to get caught alone, and pay attention to the hivemind so you aren't caught off-guard when the marines land. If you are the first person to see them, you should shout them out over the hivemind, and tell how many, where they are, and where they appear to be headed.
== Playing the Sentinel ==

Once a few marines are caught, your job becomes important. You take up a guarding position to keep them down. While you could be off fighting, you'd be forcing a stronger xeno to stay behind while you fight, or risk letting the hosts get free. When a marine breaks free, they will suddenly stand up. It's important that you spit at them to keep them down, grab them (3 in hot key mode) and then tackle them as you secure them (2 in hot key mode). An guns, grenades or knives they drop in the process should be melted; don't worry, it wont hurt the marine, even if they're bathing in acid. If for any reason you need to un-nest a host, click on the nest, not the marine. When a marine kicks the bucket, through fluke or birth, take them out of the nest and use harm intent on them. Any lights they have will be slashed and turned off, returning the hive to its safe, dark space.
The Sentinel's job is a frontline ranged caste that engage marines at a distance. To utilize the Sentinel, you must:

*Keeping your distance and suppress fire on marines'
*Denying areas and marines' push via spitting toxin
*Stacking Intoxication on marines for damage over time
*Poking around corners to shoot at marines
*Coordinating with other xenomorphs to wreck marines
*Melting flares

== Tips and Tricks ==
As a Sentinel, your '''Intoxication''' is your main ability. It causes damage over time. An icon will appear under a victim, indicating the level of Intoxication. A blinking icon means it has stacked to a critical level, which is important for the Drain Sting ability. The critical level is 20 stacks.

- You're ideal for after battle clean up. Melt any guns, knives, lights, flares, and tools you find lying around after the marines have backed off.
[[File:Sent_Intoxication.gif|thumb|500px|left|The Intoxication hub]]

- Marines with big guns are bigger targets. Spit, stun, and melt their guns. Specialist gear, flamethrowers, and RPGs make for delightful guns to melt and will cause the salt to flow like tears.
In general, you want to apply this offensively by focusing a single marine so that you can stack up Intoxication. The more you stack, the more damage over time you give the marine. Your '''Toxic Spit''' may be weak by itself, but when paired with any of the other melee castes, you can debuff down marines, and then have your partner completely put them out of commission. Your Toxic Spit can go through friendly xenomorphs! Because of this, the Sentinel can help support combat inside and out of the hive as long as you never walk alone.

- Even if you get a stun off, don't get cocky and go in there to slash them yourself. You might just eat lead.
If yourself being pursued, you can always use your spit to ward off your pursuers and hopefully lead them awayYour spit can also be used as a disengagement tool and can give you the chance you need to flee and recover. Remember, the longer you live as a Xeno, the stronger you become, so fleeing is not just tactical, it's smart.

- Your speed lets you make an effective ambusher when you partner with a runner. Flank the marines, stun the one in the back, and have the runner drag them off screaming and gurgling in pain.
Your small size allows you to crawl through vents. Alt Click a vent to begin entering it. If you get a message that the vents are disconnected, a-help, as it's a known issue and the sooner it's fixed the sooner the rest of the hive can benefit. If you are the first person to see them, you should shout them out over the hivemind, and tell how many, where they are, and where they appear to be headed.

- One of the strongest and most surprising partnerships comes from a Sentinel Sentinel pair. Have one lay down the stuns while the other slashes and stuns anyone who attempts to rescue them. If you act fast, you can even put a facehugger on them.
One last ability you possess is your '''Corrosive Acid'''. Though you can't spit it at your foes, you can use it to melt anything of use to the marines. Your acid is generally weak and will take an excruciatingly long time to melt just about anything, but if you see a gun or a flare lying around, you might be prudent to melt it anyways.

== Evolutions and Upgrades ==
=Sentinel Abilities=

As you upgrade, your combat skills are mostly the ones reaping the stat gain. You become faster, hit harder, regenerate and store more plasma, and take more hits. The best boon of all is your spit upgrading. While the stun will always be the same, you'll find yourself spitting faster and further, to the point where you become almost machine-gun like.

Toggle Bump Attacks
This ability allows you to toggle bump attacks on and off. If for some reason you want to avoid them, toggle this off. The red arrow means it's on, you attack; the green arrow means it's off, you push. N/A N/A

Rest
This ability is used to rest and get up, you will heal faster when resting on weeds. N/A N/A

Psy Drain
This ability is executed on dead marines. Every dead marines psyhic drained will give 60 psychic points (scaled from 30 to 90 on number of marines) and 1/8 of a larva. 100 N/A

Corrosive Acid
Expells acid onto an object or wall, destroying it after a while. If used on wall, after some time a hole will appear. Small xeno can climb through, large xeno can break the wall with hole.
Depending on caste:
Drone Drone and Sentinel Sentinel have weakest acid. Takes 8 minutes for a regular wall. Cannot be used on reinforced walls.
Hivelord Hivelord, Shrike Shrike, Spitter Spitter, and Praetorian have common acid. 3 minutes for a regular wall. Cannot be used on reinforced walls.
Boiler Boiler, Queen Queen, and King King have strongest acid. Any wall is taken down in about one and a half minute.
75 N/A

Toxic Spit
Spit toxin at a target or tile. Contribute burn damage and Intoxication stacks against marines. It goes back friendly xenomorphs for you use as cover. 30 N/A

Toxic Slash
Imbue your claws with acid, inflicting the Intoxicated debuff with every slash. You won't have Toxic Slash after 4 seconds or after 3 slashes have been dealt. 100 10 SECONDS

Drain Sting
Sting your victim, draining some Intoxicated stacks and gaining benefits from it. It removes 30% of the current stack amount on use.

If the victim is above 20 stacks, this ability will increase all armor ratings by 20, for 10 seconds.

Inflicts knockdown. The duration of this knockdown is proportional to the amount of stacks the victim has, minus 1 second. For example; 30 stacks equals 2 seconds, and 15 stacks equals 0.5 seconds. The minimum duration is 0.1 seconds.

Deals a proportional amount of damage. The formula for this damage is: ( Amount of stacks * 6 ) / 5. This translates to a minimum of 1.2 damage and a maximum of 36 damage.

Heals a proportional amount of health. The formula for this heal is: Amount of stacks * 6. This translates to a minimum of 6 health and a maximum of 180 health.

Restores a proportional amount of plasma. The formula for this restoration is: ( Amount of stacks * 6 ) * 3.5. This translates to a minimum of 21 plasma and a maximum of 630 plasma.
